West Denmark is a church in transition. Pastor Linda Rozumalski, who had served for over 17 years, retired in 2024. As we search for a new installed pastor, we are led by a transition team composed of members of the congregation. They, in turn, are assisted by many other members who volunteer their time, talent, and elbow grease.
Our transition leadership team:

Shawn Mai – Shawn is our Interim Pastor. He is an ordained Lutheran minister who currently works as Manager of Clinical Pastoral Education at Park Nicollet Health Services in Minneapolis. His duties at West Denmark include leading worship, administering the sacraments, and pastoral visitation and counseling.
Christy Wetzig – Christy is our Interim Parish Associate. She preaches, assists with worship, and cultivates lay ministries. Christy is a writer, gardener, and professional potter. She lives with her family in the woods, off-grid, where the trees and fields inform her faith in a way that would make our patron “saint,” N.F.S. Grundtvig, proud.
Liz Dodge – Liz is our Church Administrator. She is a retired program administrator and project manager. Her duties include church administration, finances, and office management.
Music:
West Denmark is well known for its robust music program. (We are a small church with a big voice!) Good music will continue throughout our transition because of our extremely talented music staff.
Christine Johansen – Chris serves West Denmark as worship pianist and accompanies our church choir. She is involved in many areas of church life – notably as a contributor to Christmas programs. Chris moved to Luck and joined the church in 2007 after retiring from teaching piano performance, class piano, and courses in music fundamentals for classroom teachers at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. Locally, Chris has served as accompanist for the Woodland Chorale and the Festival Theatre and has acted in several community theater productions.
Harry Johansen – Harry volunteers his considerable skills as conductor of the present West Denmark Church Choir, founded in 2008, and as worship cantor. He is the former conductor of the Woodland Chorale, an area community choir he organized in 2011. Prior to moving back to his childhood stomping grounds, Harry was Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He was the Director of Choral Activities and conductor of the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Women’s Chorale, and opera productions, and taught courses in conducting and choral literature. Harry and Christine enjoy biking, gardening and time with their family.
Chuck Parsons – Chuck is our organist. He is a retired professional church musician, whose background includes positions as music director at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis and at Hamline United Methodist Church in St. Paul. He was founder and conductor of Minnesota Compline Choir, which sang a live broadcast every Sunday evening on St. Olaf College’s radio station WCAL for many years. Chuck played an important role in obtaining the present church organ, which fills our small – but acoustically superb – sanctuary with magnificent sound. Chuck is a customer service volunteer at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
