Woodland School Benefits from Philanthropy of Give Big Valleys

The West Denmark Woodland School received $2,790 from donations made through the annual Give Big Valleys one-day giving campaign of United Way of St. Croix and Red Cedar Valleys. The online event took place for 24 hours on April 28. Eighteen donors gave a total of $1,790, which was increased by an anonymous matching grant of $1,000.

In total, this year’s campaign raised $278,042 from 718 donors to 87 organizations. Of those, only 16 received more funds than the Woodland School!

“We are heartened and blessed by this generous support of our Woodland School project,” said Mary Jensen, interim director.
“These funds will be used to help us hire initial staff.”

After three years of planning and work, the school is currently in the pre-licensing stage of approval from the State of Wisconsin,
with plans to open in the fall of this year.

Registration for Family Camp is now open!

June 30 and July 1-3

For nearly a half-century, West Denmark has presented our version of a true Danish Folk Camp—a mini “school for life.” Family Camp is a remarkable experience of community, as we connect with friends old and new; and learn, eat, sing, play and dance together. This year’s camp has been carefully and creatively planned to carry on this rich tradition.
